Fifth Sunday of Easter
22 May 2011
Dear Friends in Christ,
Several items for your attention:
1. The demolition of the old Cregger Plumbing Company buildings is nearly complete, and soon we will landscape the entire western boundary of our campus into a simple green space. While this work is ongoing, please exercise extreme caution, and do not drive or walk onto the area beyond our athletic field and paved parking lot.
2. Beginning Monday 6 June, Mercy Hall will be closed to everyone except the construction crews who will be installing the new HVAC system. Mercy Hall will remain closed and strictly off limits until Monday 8 August, when it will be reopened in preparation for the new school year. During the two months when Mercy Hall is closed, all school business will be conducted from the church office building or Pazdan Hall. Carroll Taylor, our school receptionist, and Tammy Littlejohn, our school bookkeeper, will both be working in Pazdan Hall during June and July, but their telephone numbers will remain the same.
3. In anticipation of the summer break and vacation travel, please remember that our need for your financial support does not diminish while you’re away. Signing up for electronic transfer is the easiest way by far for you to remove the guess work once and for all from the regular exercise of your stewardship, and one phone call to the church office is all that is needed to stop or modify your arrangements once they are set up by you. If you’d like to set up electronic transfer, please be in touch with Bill Biediger or Pat Perkins in the church office; contact information for both of them is available on page two of this bulletin and on the parish website.
4. The Wednesday afternoon Holy Hour and Confessions will NOT be celebrated on Wednesday 25 May or on any of the four Wednesdays in July. We will keep the normal Wednesday schedule in June, and the Holy Hour will return on the first Wednesday of August.
5. The Solemnity of the Ascension will not be celebrated on Thursday 2 June in our diocese. Instead, by decision of the bishops of our ecclesiastical province (the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the suffragan dioceses of Charleston, Savannah, Raleigh, and Charlotte) the Ascension is transferred from Thursday after the Sixth Sunday of Easter to the Seventh Sunday of Easter and will therefore be celebrated in all Latin Rite parishes in Georgia and the Carolinas on Sunday 5 June.
