Pictures of the Ordination & First Mass Weekend
Deacon Michael P. Cassabon was ordianed by Bishop Baker of the Diocese of Charleston into the Priesthood on Friday, 27 July. Deacon Cassabon was one of six new priests to be ordained in Columbia.
On 28 July 2007, St. Mary’s Parish hosted the Ordination Dinner for Father Michael P. Cassabon. Priests from Europe and across the United States joined the celebration. The highlights of the evening were the 3 toasts given in honor of the event, the Toast to the Pontifical North American College by Msgr. James Checchio, the Toast to the Priesthood by Msgr. Ross Schecterle and the Toast to the Newly Ordained by Fr. James Garneau.
Father Michael P. Cassabon celebrated his First Mass at St. Mary’s at 11:00AM on 29 July. St. Mary’s standing room only crowd witnessed an explosion of love. Many of those in attendance, had know Father Cassabon since he was a young student attending St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Following the First Mass, Father Cassabon administered his first priestly blessings at a reception held in his honor in Gallivan Hall.
