St. Mary’s School seventh grade student Mark Schott won First Place Overall at the 53rd Annual Greenville County and South Carolina Regional Science and Engineering Fair 2007 held Mon., Mar. 26 at the Carolina First Center for his science project Rocket Power. He also won The Director Award which recognizes academic excellence in science and engineering by a middle school student. Schott received a $300 award and trophy for first place overall. His science teacher Patricia Lanning also won $150 and a school trophy. In addition to these two top awards, Schott won First Place in the Engineering Division, the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge Award, a $100 award from the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers, and a prize package from the United States Air Force.

The following St. Mary’s Middle School students also received awards at the science fair: William Lewis, second place Engineering Division and the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge Award; Meredith Cox, third place Environmental Science Divison; Madison Vick, second place Medicine and Health Division and the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge Award; and Victoria DeMaria, Greenville Master Gardeners Award.
